**Gaia** integrates insights from across the cosmos
12 August 2025

The science outcomes from the Gaia mission reach and influence nearly every corner of astronomy. Thanks to its all-sky survey of astrometry, photometry, and spectroscopy from space, Gaia’s data are used across virtually all areas of the field. Key discoveries include refining the Milky Way’s shape, tracing its dynamic past, identifying remnants of ancient mergers, improving estimates of the its mass and the distribution of dark matter in its halo. Gaia is also one of ESA’s most scientifically productive missions, powering a remarkable number of peer-reviewed publications.
